Once again, officialdom has changed its story about what happened last week when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was allegedly captured in a boat in a neighborhood back yard in Watertown, Massachusetts.
From the AP this evening:
Authorities originally said they had exchanged gunfire with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev for more than one hour Friday evening before they were able to subdue him.
The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation, say investigators recovered a 9 mm handgun believed to have been used by Tsarnaev’s brother, Tamerlan, from the site of a gun battle Thursday night, which injured a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officer. Dzhokhar was believed to have been shot before he escaped.
The officials tell The Associated Press that no gun was found in the boat. Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said earlier that shots were fired from inside the boat.
Obviously, we can no longer believe the police and authorities in charge of releasing information on the attack and the subsequent and alleged pursuit, shooting death of Tamerlan Tasernaev, and the capture of his younger brother, who was originally portrayed as an armed and dangerous terrorist.
The authorities can no longer be trusted. An independent investigation must be allowed to examine all the evidence surrounding the case before Tsarnaev is prosecuted and put to death, as members of Congress, including liberal Democrat senators Chuck Schumer and Dianne Feinstein, have called for.
